For most athletes who are concerned about performance levels, they are aware that there must be a balance of eating, training, and rest that makes them the super performer that they strive to be. There is a real sure way to be all you can be in the field of competition, and the suggestions are really simple.

The most important aspect of staying at a peak performance level is rest. Rest is important because most tissue and cell renewal takes place in the body while it is sleeping. In order to optimize those processes, a good night’s sleep is essential. Minimally five to six hours each night is what makes a good athlete a better one.

The next suggestion is basic but important to creating optimal peak performance levels and that is the diet. It means having the right combination of protein, carbohydrates, and fats in order to create the energy level needed for top performance without exhaustion, exertion, and injury. Proteins, fats, and carbohydrates are needed to bring about desired results. Crash dieting, undereating, and overloading are things to avoid.

The last suggestion is the real crux of peak performance and that is training, cross-training, and recovery. These aspects of becoming a great athlete as opposed to just a good one is needed.

Athletes need to include a variety of foods in their diet when it comes to training and especially when preparing for an event. Maintaining a healthy diet for athletes is about boosting performance. To do that athletes need to keep the body fueled with vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, protein and fat. If the athlete is training for an event, the foods eaten during the previous weeks are going to supply the energy required. Healthy nutritional diets for athletes is not about cramming at the last minute.I was looking for more information and found it here. The body demands the right amount of foods to strengthen muscles with enough calories to fuel the body.

Additional factors to be considered when putting together a healthy nutritional diet guide for athletes is the type of training or event. All athletes need a balanced combination of wholes grains, fruits, vegetables, lean meats, fish, nuts, soy, peanut butter and dairy foods. A variety of foods, the right amount of calories during workouts are essential for the body to reach the desired performance level. Short calories can starve the body causing it to break down. Hydration is essential to the body’s operation and athlete’s need water even more to replace fluid loss during workouts and athletic events.

Diet plays a very important role for all people but it plays an even higher role for athletes. Athletes demand more from their body than most people so they need the necessary carbs and protein to give them the required energy to do the activities their sport requires. To get the best performance athletes need to consume enough nutrition. A high number of calories and protein can make the difference between a good athlete playing horribly and a not so good athlete performing great.
Athletes should have a diet that they are comfortable with. A comfortable diet will increase the chances of the athlete actually sticking to it. Allot of people create a diet and never stick to it after a few weeks because they are not comfortable with it. Since an athlete needs a lot protein to perform, they should have a diet with foods that they love eating. The best part about protein is that it is in everyday meat like chicken, ham or even eggs. Most people love to eat meat so an athlete should have no trouble creating a protein diet. Protein bars and shakes can also be useful for athletes that are vegetarians or who just do not like to eat meats every day.

If you’re training for a marathon you’ve likely made some changes in your lifestyle. Cut back on the Direct Tv , stuck to a rigorous running schedule and most importantly, improved your diet. But the real question is, are you eating the right foods? It’s simple, but these should be the mainstays of your training diet
Whole Grains: Carbs are good! They help you gain energy as your body breaks them down and when you eat whole grains your body works harder to digest them and keeps you running longer. The day before the race, of course, you’ll want to have some pasta.
Lean Protein: Think chicken, salmon and turkeyyeah, the boring stuff. The leaner your protein the better it converts into energy for you body and the less weight you’ll put on in the process. Protein is the building block of a successful training regimen.
Hydrate: Are you drinking enough water? No, seriously, at least 100oz a day? You should be drinking twice that on days you run and on days offkeep on chugging.

Nutrition plays a key role n any athlete’s diet. Athletes have to stay in top performance to excel in their particular sport. The types and quantity of food we put in our mouths can dramatically alter or affect or endurance, strength, and stamina levels. For comparison, look at the average sedentary person who does no exercise at all, and eats a lot of junk or processed food. Those cup cakes, potato chips, pizza, ice cream, and soda pop all lead to obesity! And obese IS NOT what an athlete wants! An athlete must concentrate on certain food categories to maintain superior performance levels.

Our food can be divided into three main categories; carbohydrates (carbs), protein, and fat. The trained athlete wants to reduce the carbs, and increase the protein. Carbs are things like pasta, bread, noodles, and so on. Good lean protein for the athlete would be chicken breast, lean beef, “marbled” steak cuts, such as sirloin and porterhouse, cheese, eggs, yogurt, and plenty of whole milk. Avoid the “bad” fat sources such as canola, sunflower, and vegetable oils, and instead add good fat sources such as olive and coconut oil. This is a good energy diet for the athlete.

An athlete always wants to be at peak performance levels. The types of food eaten will affect their performance levels. How many fat, overweight athletes, are there? Most athletes will increase their protein levels, while cutting down the carbohydrate amounts they eat. A high protein diet will burn off a body fat as well. A good addition to the athlete nutrition program is a good quality protein powder shake mix. To maintain current body weight, try to take one gram of protein per pound of bodyweight. If your goal is to gain muscle and/or body mass, then increase to two grams of protein per pound. Most god quality protein shakes are made from whey protein, which will also include your branched chain amino acids (BCCA’s).

There are a variety of nutritional supplements the athlete can add to their diet. Two primary amino acids are L-arginine and glutamine. Amino acids are critical for converting food into energy in the body. Arginine will also acts as a growth hormone, and you skin, hair, and nails will be much healthier. In men, there may be an increase in testosterone levels, which can enhance their sex life! Always stay well hydrated when in training.

Athletic diets are not too different from any other diet that involves eating for health, eating to slim down, or eating to gain muscle. It is actually quite simple; stay away from the bad junk foods and eat a balanced diet of healthy foods. However, while for some diets the occasional splurge of junk food can be deemed acceptable, athletes need to truly avoid them altogether, as the wrong foods can often slow or even hinder the muscle building process. So, as athlete, try to avoid junk food altogether and balance you intake of all the other healthier food group options. This also means that since there are no empty calorie intakes during the day, you must increase the amount of healthy foods eaten. Instead of eating massive meals, however, try eating several small snacks in between the meals.

The other key component to an athlete’s diet revolved around the exercise and activity level. Exercise obviously plays a vital role in these diets. You will need to work out often and longer to promote weight loss to rid yourself of those extra couple of pounds. Consequently, this will allow for more muscle growth and definition and much higher endurance levels.

If you are an athlete who wants to get the fullest perfomance from his athletical abilities, you need to live a lifestyle that includes more than just excersie and weight training. These are important things you must do to keep your body performing to its maximum ability but you body can’t perform to its maximum ability without a proper diet. A proper diet goes hand in hand with excerising and weight training to provide the perfect body for optimum althletic ability.

If you are an athlete who is serious about his body, you need to have a diet that consists of carbohydrates. Carbohydrates carry about 50 percent of the energies needed to provide the atlete with the body power they need to complete whatever althletic test they need to. Foods like pasta, potatoes, and many foods that are rich with grains are the perfect way for you to fill your body with the carbohydrates that you need to feel more enery.

Eating foods rich in protein is also another way to fuel your body with energy. Eat meats or other foods that are known for their protein having properties, and you can help to build up your energy better just by eating certain foods.

Also, remember to drink plenty of water. Water is a necessity for all people, but it is especially important for the energy needed for an althlete. Athletes tend to sweat more than more peope because they exert a lot of energy, and that sweat needs to be replenished constantly by water to keep the body fully functional and safe from harm. Try to change a few things in your diet and you, too, will be able to perform at your peak.
